Post Office Closures Confirmed
The imminent closure of 20 Post Office branches in the south of the county has been confirmed.
Despite public outcry during a six-week public consultation, none of the branches proposed to close in the area have been saved.
Of the 41 branches in the South Herts, South Essex and Bucks area earmarked for closure by the Government in May, only four will stay open. The remaining 37 are expected to close by the autumn.
The four branches which have been saved are outside of the county. Following a further review, Post Office Ltd is now proposing that Moatfield in Harcourt Road, Bushey and Weston Turville in Aylesbury, Bucks, should be closed instead. A six-week public consultation on this proposal will commence shortly.
All affected branched will display a poster informing customers of the decision. Further information will be provided shortly afterwards in the branches to confirm the actual dates of closures. This will not be less than four weeks from the date on which the poster is displayed. Customers will also be given information to help them choose an alternative branch which is suitable for them.
A final decision on the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire area closures is due on September 17.
